What are the corrosion forms of stainless steel pipe fittings?

Although the corrosion resistance of stainless steel pipe fitting is better, but after a long time of use is not inevitable to be corroded. In some media, stainless steel pipe fittings can resist corrosion, but in some media, they will be corroded due to defects in chemical stability. Generally, there are five types of corrosion of stainless steel pipe fittings, which are surface uniform corrosion, pitting corrosion, intergranular corrosion, stress corrosion and crevice corrosion. The following analysis focuses on the form of uniform surface erosion:

Average erosion, which refers to the overall erosion of the metal surface that touches the erosion media. According to different application conditions, different standard requirements for erosion are put forward, which can be generally divided into two categories:

1.stainless steel corrosion refers to the corrosion of steel in the air and medium materials with less corrosive properties. The rate of erosion is less than 0.01 mm per year, which is considered “complete corrosion resistance”.The rate of erosion is less than 0.1 mm per year and is considered “corrosion resistant”.

2.corrosion-resistant steel, refers to the steel that is corroded and corroded in a variety of media materials capable of corrosion.

In order to extend the service life of stainless steel pipe fittings, we should take preventive measures according to the usage environment and the reason of corrosion.
